Path of Exile Item Upgrading
The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.
Usually, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while objects with strong bases, such as eth titans aren't affected much in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute benefit, or extra effect, while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, found as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from chests or missions. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain level before they can be upgraded.
To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player must select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats as well as the required component or materials.
There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be put in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding the word Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and replaces glyphs with another glyph the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions that are able to be swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from the previous versions in a few key ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level up however, the materials needed do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a select few items and maximize the effect of those items rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
If an item is finished being leveled in this way, it is capable of receiving an upgrade set of components, and an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Power and it will reset to zero in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade is successful.
Once a piece is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will enhance its capabilities. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's class. For instance an uncommon or exclusive weapon with a standard base will only have two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.
More hints will require a certain number of Flightstones and crests, depending on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item does not reach its maximum level, the NPC gives the player the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and costs the same amount of materials but will result in a lower chance of success.
To measure the height of a building, engineers will employ a level to compare the measurement to an established reference point, like a benchmark, or the elevation of the ground. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are built to a high level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential aspect of the game, and it can boost an item's damage, strength, or other attributes. This can be done via the menu for items or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling can be expensive and should only be used in the rarest of circumstances.
The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which are used to earn Reroll tokens. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item or an item of the same type. Recyclable items have a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the level of filling.
Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them easier to roll. This meant that you could receive the stats that mattered most to your build often than other. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns and the control impaired duration stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.
This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for each stat. This could be a positive or bad thing dependent on your needs and requirements from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special bonus that boosts the item's power by a specific percentage or flat value. These bonuses are rolled in addition to the usual affixes. The more you improve a product, the better the chance of receiving the bonus of a different kind.
The game also comes with number set that grants an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on an item. This is a great way to give a character a lot more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players prefer to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. Rerolling can provide a much faster path to a powerful character and allows them to climb higher levels and advance in the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be set up in different ways. They could be of various sizes, have no elements, or only contain one element. They can be used to organize data or organize information. They can also be used to study patterns. Sets can be categorized in many ways, such as by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an extensive selection of set items that can be upgraded. Certain items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Armor sets that provide the highest defense value or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already large.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique tools that are suitable for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into parity with their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, is a huge range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrading lower-level set items can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
To see if an item is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button on their screen for their character. The attributes of the item will be displayed together with any required items. For instance the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, weapons and jewelry offer better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly for weapons with spell/weapon damage glyphs upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will result in a significant increase in their performance. This will also increase the defense value of armor with an updated look.
